Do I have to pay UK VAT or Import Taxes (*UK deliveries only)?

With effect from 1 January 2021, as a consequence of Brexit, the UK government have introduced new rules for overseas goods that are sold directly to customers in the UK.

The £135 threshold refers to the total value of a consignment of goods that are imported from outside the UK.

If your order is below the £135 threshold:

  • If the total value of your order is £135 or less, UK supply VAT will be charged at the point of sale.
  • This means that the VAT is included in the price you pay when you make the purchase.
  • You should not be asked to pay any additional VAT or customs duties when your order is delivered.

If your order exceeds the £135 threshold:

  • If the total value of your order exceeds £135, import VAT and possibly customs duties may apply.
  • This means VAT is not included in the price that you pay when you make the purchase.
  • These charges are usually collected by the delivery company and must be paid before your order can be delivered.

Please note that the £135 threshold applies to the total value of the consignment, not the individual items within it. So, if you order multiple items from the same seller and the combined value exceeds £135, import VAT and customs duties may apply.
